Laid Back is operated as a partnership between David and Irene Gardiner. We began doing recumbent tours back in 2005 from The Bicycle Works, close to the Meadows. The new showroom is still close to this ideal location, with a good range of bikes, trikes and tandems on display. These are all prepared with the expert support of the Bicycle Works. Thanks to them, LB can offer test rides 7 days a week, all year long. Email to make an appointment or visit the showroom at 14 St Peter’s Place, Edinburgh EH3 9PH
We’re open all day Saturday. We monitor our email at other times and can generally open up the showroom out of hours with short notice.

Bike prices
Many of the brands we sell are priced in Euros on their respective web sites. To make things easier though we’ve now altered the brand by brand pages we had before with a shorter key model overview with indicative prices.
For an idea of what a bike we haven’t shown here might cost look at the manufacturer’s own site and convert to GBP. For the most popular models we have pdf sheets which we send on request. We don’t have bikes for sale ‘in stock’ although we do sell demos. Few items in the showroom are older than six months so stock does change and we try here to give a good idea of what we have. New bikes are quoted via email and built to order. We discuss all options based on experience of the brands we sell. Waiting time for NL and DE brands is around 6 weeks. ICE, Circe and Bacchetta less.

Test ride versus Tour?
A test ride is free but confined to The Meadows. Tours are charged as below with a ‘warm up’ in The Meadows before heading to places such as Holyrood Park, Portobello, Cramond, Balerno or for those that want something longer, South Queensferry beside the Forth bridges. The shortest run is around 6 miles - with a session time of around 3 hours to allow for learning. A tour to Cramond and back is around 16 miles and takes around 4 hours including stops. The idea is to have fun and learn a bit along the way.

Prices are £20 per person. A personalised
Laid Back Gift Voucher is available for £25. See ‘Tours’ page. Notice is required for tours but I do try my best to fit people in if possible.
